You enter the building.  Inside you notice a scientist next to a giant, expensive-looking machine.  "Good day," he says greetingly.  "I take it that you're here to try out the simulator?"

"Yes, I am," you reply.

"OK.  But normally these machines have several settings on them.  But since we're a new city, we couldn't afford the newer model, so we had to get a more out-of-date model.  When this city becomes more popular and we get more funds, we'll have it upgraded.  But as of now, it has only two settings.  The higher the setting, the stronger the Pokemon you encounter will be."
